The York is splendid, stunning clock which is very different to the other designs. This clock has a mirrored back case which gives a sense of depth to the case and a rounded arched pediment. As with the other clocks, it stands approx 7ft high, and is driven by a traditional German Hermle weight driven movement. The clock is made from solid Oak and there is a lovely lacquered brass finish to the pendulum and weights, with ornate carving into the case.

This is a beautiful new grandfather clock which is hand made. Please study the photo's and admire the detail and craftmanship involved.
The movement is 8-rod German Hermle. The world famous mechanical Hermle movment was founded by Franz Hermle & Sohn in 1922. Hermle is now the the world leader in mechanical movements and is renowned for its reliability and quality.
The clock has a delightful Westminster Chime each quarter (A full chime on the hour). There is also a dong on each hour. The number of strikes on the hour corresponds with the time, ie 4 o'clock - four dongs.
The clock has a Auto night shut off feature on the face which will silence the westminster chimes at night. There is also a lever under the face will turn off the chimes completely if you so wish.
The clock is made from solid Oak (except the back of clock which is a plywood type but still has an attractive finish.)
The case has a beveled glass door to the front with beveled glass sides, and polished brass pendulum and weights.
The front glass door has a key and lock. There is also a glass front to the face which can be opened to alter the time. Either side of the face there are two side glass doors which give access to the mechanism.
Please note adjustments may have to be made to the pendulum to maintain the correct time as with any grandfather clock when you set the clock up.
The clock has a fully functioning moon phase at the top of the face. Grandfather clocks started having a moonphase function in the 18th Century. The correct moon phase was important to those living an agrarian lifestyle. Night trips on horseback or by coach were much safer during the light of a full moon and crops could be harvested by the light of the moon. A lunar cycle consists of one repetition of the complete lunar phase cycle, which is equal to 29 days, 12 hours, 44 minutes and 3 seconds. Thats why there is 29.5 above the rotating moon dial.
Please also see on the face a small dial which counts the seconds per minute.
The height of the clock is approx 84inches (214cm)
The width of the clock is approx 25 & half inches (65cm)
The depth of the clock is approx 15inches (38cm)
There is also the nice touch of adjustable feet on the bottom of the clock to help level the timepiece on those uneven floors.
